Went to the cimarron web site yesterday and 3 new conversions have appeared since last time I was there .
Says available mid 2006 . My storms are opentops . Sure would be interested in what you conversion experts
think about these. likeif you took a standard uberti  and converted it with a kit and price of gunsmith  how much differece in final price compared to the factory conversion. Cimarron has such a fine reputation .     Sweettooth

Major 2

I ordered one two weeks ago.
There's at least two other threads (one is a Poll ) about it here.
Some are upset over the cal. 45 VS their favorite , I'm fine with 45.
Mine will join my Open top, replacing my R&D Cylinder-ed 2 Gen. as main paiir.

As to price, about $ 490- $519 shipped I understand.

R&D quoted $900-1100 (w/ complete new case hard & Blue ) on my 2nd. Gen Colt and an undetermined long waiting list.

I priced the part from VTI at about $200.  Now add that to a new or used Uberti 1860 at $150 to $250.  You are looking at $350 to $450. Now if you can find a gunsmith to do the work for $100 to $200, you are still in the > to $500 range for new Cimm.

Plus for me it still needs to be registered, so additional cost.

Now if you can do the work yourself then you save the $200 or more cost for the gunsmith and it does not require the registration process.  But it is a lot of work without the right machinery.

Right you are, and don't forget the  60 Ejector Assembly Installed
& barrel refinished $200.00 or having the case color redone $ 65.    ;)

Does anyone have this VTI website handy I need to check around for some stuff.  Also has anyone done business with Buffalo Arms Co.  Are they a reputable establishment?  They certainly have quite abit of stuff.  They carry the same conversions as cimmaron, a little bit cheaper but I'm unsure of the quality vs. cim.

Register? What? We don't have gun registration here in Alabama.

Interesting.  I too love the old conversions. I don't care so much for the Richards Mason as I do the Original Richards.  A much smoother flow.  Sadly Cimarron does not have a Richards Conversion any longer...  I keep thinking about having a copy of CABLE's gun from "Last Stand At Saber River" done by R&D.  A sizeable chunk of money.  Oh well, I really didn't need it anyway.

I have a Cimarron Open top and a Cimarron Richards Mason both in .44 Colt.  I also have an ASM in .38 in the Richards version.

Highlander999 take a look at Cimarron's web page and click on new for 2006. They are coming out with what they call 2nd Model Richard's. It is only in 45 Colt for now. Don't know if it will be available in others later or not or when if so. I talked with a gunsmith and he said that the cylinder from a Uberti RM would work in it so I am going to order one and then order a cylinder from VTI for the RM in 44Colt. I will either shoot heeled bullets or send the barrel to R&D to have it lined.

I am going to check the new Cimarron Page out.  I don't so much mind .45, all of my SAA's are .45.  But, I like the oringinality of the 44 Colt too.

Thanks,
