Howdy folks I just got done shooting in my second cas shoot. The first shoot I borrowed everything one needs to shoot. After words I purchased one new ruger vaquero, got along way to go yet. The cylinder on my ruger seems to hang up when I cock the hammer, but only when it is loaded. Empty I can cock it and dry fire at will and it wont hang up. Can anyone help? It seems as if it is out of time is that possible?

Could be the firing pin isn't retracting all the way. What is the serial range for yours? Should be 56-xxxxx, put it on here with the last few as X's. There was a factory service bulletin for the low serial numbers..........Buck 8) ::) :-\
I might be slow, but I'm mostly accurate.....

Hmmm, if you're under 3,000, you might be in it. You might want to call Ruger and check. It kinda sounds like the problem they were havin'. The firing pin can be hanging up, causing the drag in the cases. I've got one in the 800's that definately is in it, but hasn't exhibited any problems. I've got a shipping label from them though, and it'll go back if it does. Talked it over with them and it was okay by them.........Buck 8) ::) ;)

I dont notice any markings on the brass. What bugs me is it does it only when live rounds are in the cylinder. Once they have been fired I can can cock and fire on the empties and no problem.
The cylinder seems to have quite a bit of side play is that normal? Iknow I keep rattling on but this is my first single action and it dont seem right. I own several ruger hand guns and have not had any problems with them.

Factory or reloads? You may have a high primer problem if they're reloads............Buck 8) ::) :-\

All are reloads and ive shot 123 rounds thru the gun and it happens every time. It might be the loads but 123 of them? Im gonna try some factory rounds and see what happens.

took the gun back to the gunshop of purchase we tore it done and the pawl was hanging up on several burrs. now since this is my first single action and not wanting to screw it up we called ruger and they said send it in we will take care of it. no wonder im a ruger fan.

When I first got my new RV it hung up on the first few rounds.....then I realized that I had taken the cylinder out and did not have the rod screwed all the way back in....once I screwed it back in all the way it worked fine. Have you checked this?
