Salut la Compagnie!

Great photos Tom, didn't know that France had clubs similar to ours (and to judge from your site, they've been around longer!)  When I lived in Paris, a friend from the Alpine Club de France proudly showed me his Winchester, introduced me to Lucky Luke, and sang all the words to "O Shenandoah".  Daniel "La Fouine" Dussos, wonder if he's still around.  I wasn't interested in Cowboy stuff at the time, to my detriment.

Welcome to Cas City, I'll be watching for you!

tom, your pictures are some of the best western reinactments i've ever seen. and i live in a small idaho town full of real cowboys cattle and ranches. you guys have really captured the old west. all of you have learned what i afraid many people even here in the u.s. haven't. " the west isn't a place on a map, but a way of thinking and living" will keep watching for your posts. have you ever been to the u.s.? if not you should come out sometime. i just got back from the little big horn battle field in wyoming. i camped out right on the little big horn river. at nite you can feel the ghosts all around you. good luck. gotzguns

Tom,

Great photos!  I have to agree with everyone that your group has got it right!

When I saw the photo of the barber shop, I wondered how I got into a picture taken in France.  Ol Gabe beat me to the comment! ;D

I have relatives on my mothers side that came to eastern Missouri about 1800 from the French speaking portion of Alsace.  That is the part of my family tree that I have based my CAS persona on.  The family name was Girard.

Your group would sure fit in well with many of the folks in NCOWS.  My hat's off to you!!

When I go to the cimetary to see my family and when I  look at the 1800's dates above tombstones, I think to this great period...................
and I also think that many of those could it have known this great period..........

Howdy Tom,

It's great to see what you have done in France....   I work for France Telecom in Atlanta, Georgia USA (actually, Orange Business Services) and visit Paris for meetings on some occassions.  Also, I have co workers in Paris that may be interested in your activities.

We may try and arrange to visit if that's possible.

Great website.

Another place to purchase is Dixie Leather Works. Their bottle labels and living history kits offer many ready to cut-out and paste on labels that are period correct. Labels for medicine, liquor, toilet paper, tobacco, matches, stamps, shoe polish, playing cards, condensed milk, and much more.

Especially on this holiday let us all remember the debt owed the French people whose timely aid was what helped secure our independance.

And again in 1812 when the british had their hands full with Napoleon, and could not spare more troops to fight with over here!
