Does anyone have any comments on the 'Evil Roy' by Cimarron?
Which piece is considered best, Evil Roy or USFA?
Thanks,

Virginia Gentleman

I don't have an Evil Roy Cimarron, but I do have 3 of their guns with two of them the Turnbull US Finish SAAs and they are excellent, but they are a shade less in quality compared to the US Fire Arms SAA.  The USFA gun IMHO is still a better buy because it has more authentic fonts on the rollmarking, no roof marks anywhere and still slightly better fit and finish.  I would say if you are looking for one SAA to go with, get the USFA, plus it will hold its value better than Cimarron and has a firing pin bushing that is absent on the Cimarron.

I have the Ruger New Vaquero's and the "new" Evil Roy SA in .45 Colt.  My buddy has the Long Hunter USFA's in .38 Special.  All three are nice, however the USFA and Evil Roy seem a little more refined.  The Evil Roy has a better exterior look than the USFA in my opinion.  The NEW Evil Roy is being slicked-up by a different gunsmith and I don't know if that is supposed to be public knowledge, but a quick call to Evil Roy will satisfy the curious..

I have a pair of Evil Roy Cimarrons. They are great. I am not a good one to compare them to the USFAs because I've never held one. They are extremely good guns, though. Smooth, nice crisp action, great finish and I really like the wider front sight and opened rear sight. These are the first pistols I've owned that I won't replace the grips on because they feel great. Although I normally shoot my Remmies, I will keep these for a long time.

At a gunshop not far from my work I got to compare a SAA from US Firearms to an Evil Roy Cimarron.  The main difference is in the fit and finish of the USFA, it is still better looking and has the hard rubber grips I like over the checkerd wood.  The Evil Roy's action is better and smoother.  Both guns were 4 3/4" barrel versions.  Just my opinion and I guess it depends if you want it for competition or to use occasionally.  The USFA is 100% USA made if that is important to you.
