Are barrel bands with sling swivels available?

I see some of the different companies show a sling swivel on the front barrel band of the carbines.  This is usually followed by the disclaimer that the front swivel shown is not included.  Does anyone make a band with swivel?  Did originals ever have the front swivel and if not, why the back swivel?  Also, what would be a good or somewhat period correct sling to put on a carbine if a front and back swivel were to be used?

I am thinking a sling would make the Spencer a little more friendly to pack along while hunting or hiking.

Thanks.

Pard,

I got my front barrel band with swivel from Taylor's, it is for the Sharps carbine but fits the Spencer as well.           My sling is ( reproduction) made for the (reproduction) Springfield Musket, and works very well with it. Total cost for both was in the $30 ball park. Hope this helps.

No M-1860 carbines have swivels, some (probably later production) M-1865s have swivels and all M-1867 and New Model carbines have swivels. The supply of Spencer/Sharps swivels has really dried up. There are reproductions ranging from not bad to pretty awful. but the last original I saw for sale was over 5 years ago. The swivels on carbine bands are riveted, like M-1861 musket band swivels. Spencer/Sharps butt swivels and rifle band swivels have screw pivots.

So a barrel-band swivel was original equipment on the 1865 Spencers? Was there also an issue sling for these? I'd sure like to find a photo.

Not on all of them ... The 2300 M1865 Spencer carbines acquired by Canada in 1866 didn't have barrel-band swivels, only the butt swivel and the sling bar & ring:
