Need Information

Howdy: I'm new to the cowboy shooting sport,but would like to know if both handguns have to be the same cal.? I know that you have to have the rifle in handgun cal. All the help is greatly appriecated.

Hi there Sivergoat 12, No your handguns do not have to be of the same calibre but it can make life a lot easier at the loading table if they are and a real lot easier if you have a reload during a stage.
I've seen pards say "Ohh I keep the .45s on this side of the belt and the 44-40s on the other, and yep there always seems ta be a mess up, ya can bet on it.

Ask around your local shoots as they'll be a friendly bunch and they will set ya straight.

I agree with Texas, it makes it alot easier if you have you 2 handguns and even you main battle rifle in the same calibre.

I use 2x38 handgun and in my Marlin Cowboy I shoot the same load so when you have a reload in a stage  you will not mix up your loads.

Hi thanks for the good advice from everyone. I get tem all in the same cal. I just found a shooting club about 30 miles from home and I'm going to there next shot and see what's going on. Hope to join and start having sum fun myself.

Hey Texas I told you we could have some more fun we moved round to other side of the world and we still are about 18 hours ahead of them so we know what's going to happen before it does.
