Well now, Bristow,
Unless I missed it someplace, what is it, brand, guage, length, etc? This is always helpful in getting an answer from the 'Pros'!
Best regards and good shooting!

P.S. Changed your mind on coming to the Convention?? Steel Horse Bailey needs a Pard to share a room, just a thought. Besides, my Pard Eastern Earl will cut you a Heckuva deal on his Navy Arms/Perdersoli RB 45-70, he may even toss in a bag of Starline brass to get ya' started!
P.P.S.S. I always thought a Prairie Traveler would have a Single Shot Shotgun, and besides, how many 'Style Points' are you gonna get at a Shoot! Yee Haw! Go for it!

Bristow Kid

Unfortunately I am already going on vacation right before the convention.  And work wouldnt let me extend it longer(damned bosses).  But I am looking forward to headin' down to Ackley and watching the first Buff shoot.  If'n I can I would like to try and shoot a 45-70 before I buy one.

Well, Pard, your S.S./S.G. will no doubt be the hit of the Posse whenever you use it, 'Style Points' even in NCOWS are supremo and it makes for an envious crowd if you hit 'em all in a timely fashion, HAH!!
As far the Buff rifle, if you can make it down to the April or May Shoot, just let everyone know you are interested in trying out a rifle and you shoudn't have any problems getting some 'trigger time' with an RB or a Sharps! Your avatar pic gives us a good idea what you look like, but I expect most'll recognize you by your hat.
Best regards and good shooting!

I like a good single shot as much as anyone, but make damn sure that the chamber fits the shell.  I have a cannon breech single 12 with a 2 5/8 inch chamber thats a style pointer if I ever saw one, specially iff'in I'm givin the points.  But  2 3/4 inch nitro shells will kick you  (even a big guy like you) about half to death if you shoot it for a whole match.  It was originally chambered for 2 5/8 inch BLACK powder loads, and when I started feeding it what it was designed for, it's the sweetest shooting girl I ever owned.
18 inches is the legal minimum in N'brasska, and I s'pose the max length is as long as you can handle safely.
Good luck with the ol' one holer, and even though she might be slow, thats no reason to think shes handicapped.
