I absolutely hate sounding political, but I must speak up at this time.
In the effort to accomplish, Lord only knows what, we have the arrival of the SASS Firearms Covenants.
This document specifically only allows the Winchester 97 & the chicom clones of the 97 as legal slide action scatterguns.
This action bans or disallows the Marlin series of shotguns and more importantly to this group, bans the Spencer repeating shotgun.
This shotgun has been SASS legal for the approx 20 years that SASS has been in existence and meets all standing criteria.
-Pre 1899 - the patent is 1882 (as is my Spencer SG)
-Has a tubular magazine
-Has an external hammer
-Must be between 10 & 20ga. - they are 12ga.
If you are a member of SASS, talk to your Territorial Governor about this....I respectfully ask you to vote NO to this document.
Lets stick with the rule book - lets enforce the rules that already exist.
Disclaimer - I am a Territorial Governor, and I plan on voting NO to this. I do have a dog in this race, I own at least one of all the above shotguns, as well as a Winchester 1887.
I am not just a member, I'm the founder.
Thank you for reading this.
