This is making it around and I thought Ya'll like to hear about it.  I don't think it is an Internet Hoax.  If it is, well then I'm sorry, but if it ain't, then we all oughta shop at Sear's.

I assume you have all seen the reports about how Sears is treating its reservist employees who are called up? By law, they are required to hold their jobs open and available, but nothing more. Usually, people take a big pay cut and lose benefits as a result of being called up...Sears is
voluntarily paying the difference in salaries and maintaining all benefits, including medical insurance and bonus programs, for all called up reservist employees for up to two years. I submit that Sears is an exemplary corporate citizen and should be recognized for its contribution.

Suggest we all shop at Sears, and be sure to find a manager to tell them why we are there so the company gets the positive reinforcement it well deserves.

I decided to check it out before I sent it forward. I sent the following email to the Sears Customer Service Department:

I received this email and I would like to know if it is true. If it is, the Internet may have just become one very good source of advertisement for your store. I know I would go out of my way to buy products from Sears instead of another store for a like item even if it was cheaper at the other store.

Here is their answer to my email......................

Dear Customer:

Thank you for contacting Sears.

The information is factual. We appreciate your positive feedback. Sears
regards service to our country as one of greatest sacrifices our young men
and women can make. We are happy to do our part to lessen the burden
they bear at this time.

I think that's wonderful of them, but it doesn't offset the multitude of reasons that will keep me from every shopping there again.
People like me are the reason people like you have the right to bitch about people like me.

A noble stance.  Afraid I have to saddle with Forty though.

Bought a product that proved defective in June.  Took it back for a replacement.  The replacement was defective.  When I took that back the thing was on sale.  I was credited with the sale price.  Didn't feel like arguin' with 'em.

Went Sunday past.  Needed another transmitter for the garage door opener.  Salesman, after I found one, took the time to show me how to program it to the opener itself.  Nice of him.  Read the directions when I got it home.  Had I followed his instructions I would have had to reprogram every transmitter I have instead of just the new one.  Next garage door opener I'll buy will be a Stanley.

Three straight visits - bad.  I think I'm done.  It's K-Mart with another name.  It ain't Sears no more.

I don't shop at Sears very often, but according to snopes.com ( http://www.snopes.com/politics/military/sears.asp ) the story is true.

Well, I admit I only shop Sears occasionally and I head straight for the tool section. I have no qualms about the quality or warranty on their Craftsman tools. I have taken brokens back and never had any of the sale people do anything but hand me a replacemnet, no questions asked. Now on the other hand I have a Snap On dealer that grills me every time I turn in a broken and uses terms like abuse and such. It has been a long time since I have bought a new Snap On tool and only will again if it something made for a task no one else makes.
No, I have had no problem with Sears and it isn't a cattle drive inside like KMart and Wally World are either. I expect different stores with different managers and such may vary, but my experiences have been good and for supporting those that have gone into harms way, I think I will just look around at the rest of the stuff they have and see what I need. For folks in California Sears also owns OSH stores too. One of the last of the hardware stores. They even sell nuts and bolts, and a scale to weigh them out by the pound. Just like the good ol' days.

My friends wife put in 18 yrs at Sears, only to be told she was to old, and they wanted young people. No retirement that she would have got for 20 years. Happend to many accross America. I would not give them any salute at all. RR
In case you don't know me, I'm just a friend you hadn't met yet.

I respectfully suggest to those of you who are piling on Sears that you might want to consider what the meaning of Ozark Iron John's comments were; mainly that it ain't about you, or me, or any of their products. It's about what appears to be an uncommon display of loyalty to our troops who are serving our country, and not about warrentees, or an occasional snotty stupid sale jerk.  I've shopped at some pretty high-dollar, and service oriented stores as well as Sears, and to be honest, I don't know whether those other places are helping out their employees who're serving in the military or not. I do know that Sears is however. The bottom line is, it's a free country and we're free to voice our opinions, so now that I've bent your collective ears with my brand of thoughts, it's back to you for yours.

As a Sears employee and a manager (of an auto center),  I can verify that this policy pertaining to employees in the military is absolutely true.

I cannot make excuses for other Sears locations, but it saddens me to hear of any bad experience at one of our stores.   I can honestly say that at my store,  we honestly try to give people an excellent customer experience.  Sadly,  There are those employees in our company across the country whose performance falls short of your expectations. :-[

I'll leave it at that.

Now that's interesting! That gal should have gone straight to a Land Shark! She would OWN Sears now! Age discrimination is illegal and anyone in that position would have such a great case that Sears would paying fer for decendants for generations to come! :o Kinda makes me wonder ::)

Irrespective, Kudos to Sears for this position on our warriors! In todays world it takes a true commitment to our country, and men and women who go in harms way for us, to be willing to put their company on the line like this! Because you can bet that somewhere a bunch of commieliberalpinko types are thinking about boycotting Sears because of thier patriotism! >:(

I know this fer sure & certain, I'd rather shop at Sears than Wally World anytime! ;D
