Hey,
I have this spencer Carbine with a serial number I'd love to learn the history of. Issue is I can't tell if it's the 48488 or 43488. I'm leaning towards an 8 but I'm not sure.

Neat, didn't know that was a thing, definitely 43488 after looking under handguard.

I just got my carbine yesterday #15634 and also had no clue that the serial number was also under the hand guard. Took it off and of course it matched.

Thank you for the information. So much to learn about it

Chief Mac,

Sorry there are no serial # listings for the 1865 Spencer Carbine.  Records were kept only for the 1860 Spencer Carbine and Rifles used in the Civil War.
