Hello the Campfire!

I run a Beech Front Sight on my 1873 for a main match rifle and it has developed an issue.  Over the last year the hinge has loosened up quite a bit and recoil will cause it to flop while shooting a stage.  How do I tighten it back up?  Should the globe fold towards the muzzle or the breech?  Currently it folds towards the breech.

I'll try and add a photo once I can reduce the size by 75%

I never had one but doesn't yours have a short blade sight when folded down?  Pictures all show it folding towards the muzzle for that blade to be used.

As for the flopping, you might be able to peen something, but I'd think about a little dab of heavy grease right there maybe.
