Anybody seen this outer border stamp anywhere?

I bought a pair of these palm stamps from Hackbarth Leather tools, 520-642-3891. Lonnie is the guy to talk to. He's semi-retired but may still be making those. There's a left and a right so you can go either way but you can buy just one if you wish.

I also saw a pair of two petal stamps advertised on ebay a while back. The seller was in the Czech Republic.

Right after I posted the thread I found the two petal on BK and ordered it. I'll look around for others.

What size BK one did you order? Right or left? I'd love to see how those look when used.

Here's how the Hackbarth ones look. The bead is 3/32" for reference. You can lay them down a little to get more the look of the one in your photo.

I really like that! I found some Hackbarth tools on Ebay. I'll look around some more and then try to contact them.

I ordered left and right versions from BK. There was only one size listed.

Also ended up buying the holster in question. I may try to replicate it.

Congratulations. That is a fine holster. From the way the border runs off the toe, it looks like it may have been shortened at one time. A replica of that would be fun to make. Let us know how those BK stamps are when you get them. Do you know who the maker was?

It was shortened. The seller posted pics with a Pocket model and thinks it was made for something bigger. Probably an 1851/1860. It looks like professional work but the maker's mark probably went away with the toe. It'll be interesting to get it in hand. I'm going to compare it to work in Packing Iron. I'll post an update when I get the holster and start playing with the stamps.

I found another similar one from Ellis Barnes in an old Facebook ad.

I look forward to seeing your progress with it.

Those are the same stamps I have. Ellis Barnes used to be the tool maker/owner of Gomph-Hackbarth Leather Tools. Lonnie was his right hand man and now is the business. He's semi-retired from stamp making but the last time I wanted something, he answered the phone and was still selling stamps, although at a reduced volume than before. They used to make some dynamite swivel knives, too.

I got a response on their FB page that they can make the stamps but to call them. Also got the holster and the BK order. Also spent a couple hours pouring over the civilian holster section of Packing Iron with a fine toothed comb. Going to do a test piece and snap some pics. IMHO, this whole thing is very interesting.......

Glad you can get those stamps. Lonnie is a good guy to work with.

Looking forward to seeing pics of things as you go. Yes, this is quite interesting.

No pics yet but the BK stamp is just like the one on the holster. I think the pic on their website just wasn't real clear. The one Lonnie said he could make was a two petal so I'm not going to bother with that. I knocked out a `58 holster using it and like the way it turned out. I have some other ideas on how to use it other than just a border like the pic.

Those stamps are quite versatile. I've used mine in different ways and with good results. I look forward to seeing how the BK ones look and what you do with them.
