Impressive work as a Marshal in the Indian Territories. Even more impressive as a Texas Ranger. Will be looking forward to the film.

IIRC Taylor Sheridan is creating a new TV series based on lawman of the old west, as a sort of follow up to 1883.  Each year will feature a different lawman. Bass Reeves will be the first.  Get ready for the Nancy Boys to scream: WOKE-WOKE-WOKE when they realize that it is about a great Black lawman.

Something has bothered me since my post. I'm still on the mend from a 'head shot' during a vehicle accident a couple years ago. The concussion headache lasted 19 months before I received stem cell therapy. Brain works more better, but still some wires are cross circuiting. I found that bit floating around in my brain pan of mush. It has nothing to do with a slave runaway from North Texas and his amazing history in the Creek (Muskogee) Nation and Indian Territories working for Judge Parker at Fort Smith.
Another piece of late 19th century history; Texas Rangers + Bass + Reeves. The link has nothing to do with Bass Reeves, but iswhere my brain memory scramble took me to.   Texas Rangers + Sam Bass + Dr. A.B. Reeves; its own story. Have a look....

Hi
I did manage to get a book from the local Pioneer Library System on Bass.  He had to arrest his kid for killing his wife if memory serves.  He did it too.  Took balls to ask a man to do that, and more to go do it.

To get back on topic, I have been watching Bass Reeves on Paramount +, and so far it is excellent. I've also done some research on him and he was quite the lawman. Some say they based the Lone Ranger on him. Definitely worth watching if you have P+.   :)

I really like the historical Easter Eggs that are in it.  Like the man mentioning how the Indian (Confederate BG Stand) Waite sunk the steamboat he was on.

99% of Americans don't know Stand Waite was a Cherokee Chief and Confederate General.  He was the last Confederate General in the field, to surrender.

I watched it today and thought it was well done. It is a movie worth watching.
