A thread about a fellow shooter who died in a shooting accident has been removed from the Longbranch.

Except from the condolences to the family, the thread turned into what is somewhat typical for gun owners: we can be our worst enemy when it comes to protecting us from the anti-gun agenda.

This accident happened on a private shooting range. As it has been stated, it did not happen during an organized shooting event or practise and under the supervision of officials from a club affiliated with any of our organizations or a club organizing cowboy action shooting.

There is no reason to speculate more into what happened or to critisize an organization for making a statement which had the only purpose of protecting our organized activity from individuals, media and organizations who like to add another argument to their list of reason why guns should be banned.

No matter the circumstances, this is a tradegy and a loss for family and friends.

The firearm accident death rate is at an all-time annual low, 0.26 per 100,000 population, down 92% since the all-time high in 1904.

The top priority for all shooting and gun organizations, clubs and their officials is safety and to teach their members and the population about safety and to make sure we have rules and routines that prevents accidents from happening.
