Alright, don't laugh. I got my new Pietta Remmington 1858 last night from Cabela's. Cocked the hammer once and eased off the trigger. Did it again and the cylinder is stuck, hammer at half cock, trigger won't go. Pulled the loading lever down and pulled out the cylinder latch, but it's all jammed up. How do I get the cylinder out now?

First, take the screw out of the trigger guard and remove the trigger guard. Then loosen the trigger/bolt spring screw,( that big one under the trigger guard). This should free up the action, but if not, remove the trigger screw that holds the trigger in the frame. this will release the cylinder lock and the trigger. sounds like the hammer spring has not got the right tension on it. or , like my last pistol, some yahoo screwed the itty bitty screw that attaches the hand to the hammer, too far in and spread the forks of the bolt.  Mine locked up just like yours did.
