Remington 58s and middle finger knuckles

The one thing that concerns me about the long-term comfort of Pietta 58s in my particular hands is that when I take the most natural grip on the revolver the point of my middle finger knuckle bends exactly where it is in hard contact with the rear of the triggerguard -- and this is before the recoil of firing. i realize this is different for everyone because the web of the hand, length of thumb and length of finger geometry is different for each person. I wonder if this is why some complain that Remingtons don't fit them. Anyway, I am thinking that even filing/polishing a couple of millimeters off the back contour of the trigger guard bow might not ease my situation. I have tried to alter my grip slightly to rearrange that knuckle, but no go. Anyone else have these issues with their Remmies? How do you deal with them?

Bill,
You might want to feel a Euroarms Remmie. The grips are much smaller; almost as much difference in a Colt Army vs '51 Navy (also the SAA) grip. You ought to feel a Uberti too. Likely one of the 2 will eliminate the knuckle busting.
Where do you shoot in Oregon? I have a Euroarms and two Uberti Remingtons that I could bring to a shoot like Albany or maybe the State Shoot at K Falls so you can check them out. I'd hate to see you give up on the Remingtons. Every manufacturer uses a different grip shape. Dixie offers 3 different grips (shapes) for the '58 Remmie.

Since I have 14+ guns, I've been called the Imelda Marcos of Cap&Ball. Now, that's a COMPLIMENT!

My knuckle touches the trigger guard on my Ubertis. Interestingly enough, that doesn't cause any problems. I suspect that if my finger was back a slight amount, I'd get hammered good. Have you shot it to see if it is problematic?

Hellgate: I'm down in the Rogue Valley. Appreciate your offer.
Marshal: Have not shot them yet, and you are right that it may not be a serious problem. It's just a little uncomfortable simply holding and pointing them, and it could be that a millimeter of polishing the rear of the guard will make all well. I'll figure out how to get them shooting, as I really like the Remingtons.
