I work part-time in a nice gun store here in Arkansas. We carry a nice selection of CAS guns too. Yesterday a couple walked in to look around. They were nice folks, looked to be in their 40s and the gent asked to see a New Uberti .45. Cool, I bring it out, show him how to see if it's unloaded, hand it to him. He admires the gun and then starts to do a spin with it! I just tell him [quietly] "Please don't do that." He gives me a dirty look, hands me the gun and tells the lady with him "C'mon, let's go." and they leave the store. I walk over and tell the owner what just happened, and he was fine with it. We don't allow flicking revolver cylinders shut or flipping old shotguns closed either. Anyway, just WHY do people want to do stuff like that with property that doesn't belong to them?

Sheesh.  Limpbrains.  Deacon, too bad he didn't drop it when he spun it.  Then you could have said "get out your credit card."  :)

Major, glad you are still with us after that experience!

When I used to go to shoots for Cimarron, I'd have to keep a good eye on the browser's when they picked up a gun.  If they just opened the loading gate and then tried to turn the cylinder, I knew it was a "Ruger person" and watched like a hawk to make sure they didn't then try to pull the hammer back just enough to turn the cylinder (and mark it).  And made sure they knew not to let the hammer down from half cock.  Idiots or just ignorant?  A little of both.

Parchment skin is what I call it, as I've aged my skin has gotten thinner and cut's easier too. That is both physical and mentally. What I need is rhino hide to deal with the environment and PEOPLE!
Maybe he needed to impress the girl.

Kent, you just described me to a "T".  Maybe we were born to different mothers at the same time (phase of the moon don't ya know - smile).

To add to the thread, I used to have a good friend who ran the gun shop side of one of the largest pawnshops in our town.  He told me more than once he routinely, like several times a week, had loaded guns pointed at him by people wanting him to buy their gun or pawn it for them.  I watched it happen once right in front of me.  He was far more tactful than I would have been.

The worst of it, my back was to the idiot, talking to my friend.
I heard  "whoa, whoa, WHOA" I turned on the second louder whoa !
and jumped away.... the AHole was oblivious to his stupidity.

:)  Oh Yes Everybody  ;)

I get super annoyed when on the Loading Table, or the Unloading Table shows up to demonstrate his or her superior gun handling and spins the cylinder as hard and fast as they can then snaps the hammer back to stop the spin.

As with the examples above, some folks are just plain STUPID!!

Probably  trying to impress his lady friend. :-\

      Greetings!

About thirty years ago, I worked at a large west coast gun shop; and, of course, there was the customer that HAD to flick the
side swinging cylinder closed. Another would compare the sizes of pistols by taking one in each hand and slapping them together...
What I saw the most of, and one that I can't really understand, was the need for some to take a S.Ruger Blach Hawk / SBK, open
the loading gate, spin the cylinder as fast as possible, and then slap the loading gate closed. Of course, all of these customers took
umbrage to any protests...
We had a rather motley crew of employees, but, for the most part, a decent bunch. One was a nice enough fellow that worked
UPS nights, and part time at the GS. Chugged coffee. All Day Long.
One afternoon, one of our Mgrs had taken in a NIB Colt SAA, and had it on the case, preparing to zip-tie the
hammer. He and I were quietly commenting on its case colors when Nice Enough Fellow ( a "CAS Shooter" ) walks up, grabs the
NIB Colt SAA, AND BEGINS FANNING IT...
Mgr: "What in the H*LL are you DOING?! That Colt was UNTURNED?!"
Nice Enough Fellow: "Ah... Uh... Uh... SORRY, BUUUUUUUD!" ( Beats feet for the Warehouse... ).

           Memories...
