help with 44 Russian - original pictures!

Have acquired an original S&W .44 Russian and need a little (a lot probably) help.
serial number on inside right grip = 8494
number on one of the cylinders = 406
legends on barrel top match what is in the Standard S&W  catalog.
Will try to get photo and post it.
Meantime, what should I do with it?

I agree completely, Abilene; however needs a cleaning (lots really)  I'll need to find BP load data.  I might invest in ammo from Buffalo Arms.
I am going to have gunsmith completely check it before anything else, of course.
