Some time back I rust blued my Winchester and had thought a new butt stock would be in order. I put it off for years till the prices had risen. Shopping the web told me not only was the price higher then my penny pinching mind is comfortable with but most were out of stock. In my junk drawer is a nice original butt plate and my friend donated a block of walnut. After drilling holes from each end and inletting the receiver, lines are drawn for drop at comb and heel. Then rough shaped on the band saw and attacked with rasp and file. The butt plate has a slight curve to inlet before sanding and finish application. Still needs a bit more shine but it will look like a shotgun that has been cared for.
