Bullet Mould

Just got my new bullet mould from Veral Smith of LBT/F.I.G. Ent.--- it's a 360 gr., .512 diameter bullet on what he calls his Long Flat Nose design.  Overall length is .700, and has two nice lube grooves and a crimp groove.  The nose length in front of the crimp groove is .420 which should be just perfect for the Taylor's Spencer.  A double cavity mould, and he makes a beautiful mould.  I have several of his moulds, and you can't beat them.  If anyone is interested, his address is:  Veral Smith, LBT/F.I.G. The price is $125 for a two cavity mould.  The moulds use RCBS handles.

I feel safe... 

Steel moulds are much nicer in the long run, but, aluminum blocks work just fine.

I find that if I get the lead to hot and the moulds are too warm, the bullets start "frosting" and don't firm up fast enough once poored.

The correct temp for both the lead and the propper waiting time for the metal to settle into the moulds is almost an art.

I have to admit that I prefered the Lyman molds to the lee simply because I could pour more with the Lyman.  That being said, the Lee mold had a bullet style that I prefered over the Lyman for something that I was using in another life.
