Vintage Hunting with the 1873

We bought the property. Should become a nice homestead if I live long enough. 11 acres field- 23 acres old hard woods- newer pine woods that butts up to something called Flat Swamp. The peanuts are gone now and the farmer is doing winter wheat next, soy beans in the spring I'm guessing. Plenty of room to sight in a rifle or two. Working on cleaning up the overgrown old house sight that's on it. House is gone just the footers, trash, fireplace, pump house and shallow well left. Exactly one hour away from me. Hoping the strong winds from the leftover hurricane took down two dead trees on the house sight yesterday.

The winter wheat is a plus . The Deer love green stuff and in the winter the wheat will be green , when most stuff is dead . Good luck and Happy Hunting .

I shot this 11 pt Whitetail just about a year ago.  Uberti '73 in 45 COlt.  It was the very first time I carried it in the field.  It was a light rainy day and I was a bit worried about the blood trail, but it was no problem.  Thirty yard heart shot...he ran about 100 yards.

Well didn't harvest no Deer with my 73 but a got a doe and a 8 point Buck with my muzzle loader . I love that ole smoke pole I have harvested 23 Deer with that Rifle .

My muzzle loader is a TC Pennsylvania hunter I have hunted with it for years. It has filled lots of Deer tags over the years .
