I have heard that AWA is either out of business or going out of business. Any one know?

That is what I heard, but it might be a vicious rumor.  ???

SHOOT Magazine got some bad news today. It is SHOOT Magazine's understanding from Russell Simpson, who has been AWA's contract gunsmith for several years, that as of July 1, 2004, AWA is closing the firearms portion of the business. The reasons are apparently numerous but the fact remains. Russell told us that the president is in the process of refunding gun deposits that he has received and anyone who has sent in money should have received it or soon will.
Russell has aquired the rights to the AWA logo as well as the "Ultimate" and "Lightning" production designs through his company R&R. He says he will fulfill all NEW Lightning and Ultimate orders again, under the R&R name. He says he will also service and repair all AWA guns, providing free labor only. Customer will be responsible for shipping and parts costs.
Russell is in the process of moving and setting up operations and will soon be ready to service and sell the AWA guns.
You can contact Russell at 305-364-8199 or email him at blackjacksimpson99@netzero.net. Due to the fact that he is moving and trying to get caught up with orders you may need to keep trying. We wish Russell the best.

So, help me out here.  Is American Arms the same company as AWA?  I've got a 5.5 inch SA revolver with American Arms Inc, K.K.C.-Mo.  Made In Italy (A.Uberti-Italy) on the under side of the barrel.  Left side of the barrel has Cal. 38-40, Top of the barrel is marked "Regulator".  Right side of the frame has Italian proof marks and - Cat. 5542.  Serial # appears on the bottom front end of the frame - ala Colt style.  Same manufaturer?  If I ever need repairs on this gun can I use the above posted resource?

Danny,

No expert here, but I'm pretty sure that American Arms was an early importer of Italian guns.  They are not related to AWA, which used ASM and later Mateba guns.

Probably VTI would be your best source for parts for you American Arms.
Adios,

You are correct, Big hext.
I have an American Arms Buckhorn. They were made by Uberti. VTI is the place for parts. Any gunsmith that works on Uberti's can do repairs on it.

Thank you Pards!  It's good to know where to go should I ever break anything on this little forty caliber beauty.   DBC.
