Looks like there is a minimum number required for the Ladies Hatmaking seminar - anyone signed/signing up for the seminar?  Anyone know the magic number and how close the current registration is for the minimum number?

Chantilly, the hat making class last year was taught by a lady named Rita Smith out of Colorado, she is a master millner, Miss Pam has taken the class twice from her at Cheyenne and helped her out with the class for a hour or so last year at the convention, just don't expect to finish the hat at the class... :)

I know my lovely wife is planning on taking the class again this year.  It took Janine two full days to just get the hat 2/3 done.  As Wymore said, don't expect to finish at the convention, you will need to finish it at home afterwards.  Rita (the hat milner) does absolutely wonderful work.

My wife took the class last year.  She wanted me to let you know to bring your own scissors(NOT the good ones used for cutting cloth), pins and if you have the means, bring your own sewing machine.  Part of the reason that they couldn't finish the hats in class last year was due to the fact that there were 15 women taking the class but only 3 pair of scissors and one sewing machine.  Everybody was waiting on everybody else.  Also the class fee doesn't cover any embellishments you put on the hat (feathers, lace trim, flowers, etc.) the fee only covers the basic undecorated hat (buckram and material to cover it).  Just trying to give a heads up so that your better prepared than the women were last year.

Thanks for the info!  I'll plan to throw in my machine, scissors, etc.

One more thing Chantilly, bring plenty of needles for your machine.  I stopped in at the class last year, and in the short time I was in there I noticed that sewing through the Buckram, the gals busted a few needles.  Pretty tough stuff.
