As of July 24, 2021 the muster is cancelled.

Greetings the Brigade.  The Dept of the Platte muster is now set for our 4th consecutive year.  The muster will be held the first week-end of August (7th & 8th) with set-up on Friday, August 6th.  We are a small gathering (due to the range layout it is difficult to run multiple squads), but our terrain is interesting and challenging.  As Drydock put it, our targets aren't hard to hit but they can be hard to find.  Our "signature" event is the team shoot (details in the attachment below), and we have three Victorian skirmishes, one expansion skirmish and long range rifle and precision pistol stages.  All skirmish targets are "must hit".  Come and join us for fun and adventures in the northwest Colorado high desert country...

I really enjoyed the 2018 match and I sure hope to be able to make it back to the 2021!

Extension of the border closure until July 21, forcing myself and Merle Krause to forego our planned trip down for the National Muster, has us now discussing travelling down for the Department of the Platte Muster ...

Alas, the authorities on both sides of the Medicine Line are keeping us guessing on the border-crossing situation ...  >:(

As with the National Muster, this uncertainty would necessitate a "tentative registration", with the understanding that we again might be prevented from crossing the border when the time comes... and we likely won't know for sure until a week or two before the Muster.

Sagebrush, I realize you are probably en route to Nebraska and unlikely to be able to respond to this until after the National Muster, but might such "tentative registrations" be a possibility for a couple of ne'er-do-wells from the Department of the International?

Consider your self tentatively registered for the Dept of the Platte muster per your post.  We will be most pleased to have you join us if you can!

Sagebrush/Andy:

Would I be correct in my understanding, from reviewing the entry form, that you do not break down participation into subcategories like military and nonmilitary, or single shot and repeating rifle ... or smokeless and black powder?

Are rifle calibre long guns acceptable, as they are in Nebraska?

If able to attend, it would likely be with Merle Krause, who came to Nebraska with me in 2018.  We have even been talking about resurrecting his teepee (Sioux style lodge) for this type of event.  I see that there is the possibility of non-serviced camping at the range itself.  Would whatever camping area is available be suitable for setting up a lodge?  (Presumably we may need to communicate directly by PM here, or by e-mail ...)

Why did it get cancelled?  I, too, am sorry to hear it.
