Man alive! Yesterday walked into my LGS and they were unboxing a Uberti 73 with just gorgeous Case finish. Wood is okay, nothing fancy, but I just fell in love with that 73. So tomorrow gonna go up and work a deal for the 73. It's in .45 Colt, so I am expecting some blowback even though I don't run powder puff loads. Anything else really different between running this over a 66 or Rossi 92?

Congratulations . . . . (I Think).  Personally, I much prefer Brass Rifles. However, both guns have exactly the same innards excepting the Trigger Block Safety Thingie.  You'll need/want/should/can change out the Trigger Block Safety Thingie Springy.

That TBST is a Royal PITA.  Rifle can be subjected to a plethora of speed parts and can run just as fast as a '66.  Have FUN with it.

While I am fond of the Brass era , as a decal displaying member of the International Multiple Henry Owners Association;)
Then equally so the improved Henry and its own improvement the "73" and by extension the "76" as they evolved.
A new gun is always welcome even if something must give way,  it is sometimes a necessary sacrifice in the circle of a guns life.

Been there done that  :)  several times  ;D

I get that , but

as an example ...I sold my assembled parts M4 Mixmaster to fund my original circa 1891 Winchester 73   :D

I could easily replace the Mixmaster ( by assembling the upper , lower and assorted pieces  etc. ) someday day maybe being a few dimes a dozen ,

but nice original 1891 Rifles don't present themselves available every day   :-X

If blowback is an issue couldn't you blow out .44-40 brass to .45colt dimensions and use the thinner wall brass? I like my basically stock winchester/clones [no short stroke stuff] but if I want to be competitive I'll run my Marlin Cowboy Ltd. I can run it faster though I am liking the '73 trapper that I built.

Yes.  You can do just that.  Run 44-40 cartridges carefully thru 45 Colt Dies then load and "fire form" them.  Works a treat.  Stops Blow-By righteously fine.  Yess siren Bob  (who'd Bob anyway).

A little bit easier to pop the sideplates off and clean parts of the action if you are getting blowback.

Thanks all! I haven't had any problems resulting from blowback yet [except for dirty cases] from my old Rossi 92, so I hope that will remain true here. I keep rifles properly lubed and clean after every match, so hopefully that will see me through.

Major ----yeah ------ following my own advice has seen my gun storage fill up with stuff - near half of which is junk (they all work but would someone else want em? !) - I fear I have created a problem someone else will need to deal with at some point
