I also work from just a few holster patterns and simply modify them as needed. Seldom do I use a pattern without making minor changes of some sort, mostly cosmetic.

These are made from the same pattern.

I like Ghormley's patterns and have most of them but there is a certain satisfaction in drawing up your own. Both in getting the fitment right, making it period correct and in doing it your own way. I've always been afraid to try it with a Mexican loop because I didn't want to tackle getting the skirt just right but have also decided to wrangle that beast as well. Like most things, I'm sure it's tougher in my head than it will be in execution.

Sorry. He's a photo of the belt lock I mentioned. Make it narrower and put it on the back of the body of the holster to keep the holster from rising.
