Not sure if this is the right forum--Mods feel free to move.  I'm feeling the need for a centerfire steel frame Remington style derringer.  Is Bond my only choice?  All the others seem to have alloy frames.  Given my druthers, I'd prefer blued steel.

Prefer Remington style with no trigger guard.

Anybody familiar with the Miroku or Uberti replicas?

St. George

Yes - but good luck in trying to find either, since C&WAS took off - once that happened, they were made from unobtanium...

A nice original Great Western is an option - probably 'the' closest to an original - but they're hard to find as well and there are zero spares.

Good Luck!

It's removable.  But they make several models without.  Only one with a steel frame.  No blue though.

I believe the American Derringer Corp. out of Waco, Texas make their Model 1 out of real (stainless) steel:

Just an observation.

The American and Bond derringers are the size of a brick - originals definitely were not.

Came across an Excam derringer.  Is the frame steel or pot metal?

St. George

One of the many varieties of pot metal.

Bought a Miroku off GB.  I was looking for a blued gun with a steel frame.  Not a fan of nickel (or chrome).

Got my Moruku.  The frame is steel but seems to have turned a plum brown while the barrels are dark blue.  Did the frame start out blue?  The only Morukus I've seen online all have plum colored frames.

Howdy Ammo,

I have seen some investment cast and even older cast iron pocket pistol gun parts that came out purple when "blued". I don't know why or if rebluing can fix that. That said, I agree, if you're going to have a derringer, it should be a copy of the original Remingtions.

I'll bet it turned plum later.  I have an NRA centennial Colt (1971) that has the gripframe turned plum (before I got it).  I've seen some Uberti ejector housings turn plum.  And my Cimarron high polish 1911 (Armscor) has turned plum in just a few years since I bought it.  The slide is still black.

Nice looking derringer!
