Howdy pards. I am in the middle of my second holster and I need to order some needles. It's hard to look at the needles online and know what I need. The first needles I got came in a cheap leather kit from amazon and do not say size. I am looking at the John James needles on the weaver page and just not quite sure what size to order.

Thanks in advance for any help

I really can't tell you. When I call Tandy, I ask for a pack of "the needles with the big eye for blind old farts".

;D

I need one that will fit through the 5/16 holes I drilled. The other needles that came in that cheap kit I got are too fat and they have sharp ends which im not crazy about.

Holes in leather shrink up, I use a diamond point asl to open them up. Often times the eye hangs on me, which is why there is a pair of needle nose pliers on the bench.

I normally use cs osborne "0" (one ought) for 6 cord linen. I'm going to be using #5 for 4 or 5 cord.
Hope this helps.

I mostly use the John James #2s (probably because ~30 years ago I got a good deal on a bunch of them).  I just ordered a pack of 25 last night, via the Famous South American River.  I suspect that'll last me 5-10 years.

If you dig around a bit on Amazon, you can find a package of 25 needles of mixed sizes.  If I were trying to find which size I wanted  to use, I'd got that route til I had my preferences set.
