My LGS recommended Gun Broker to me almost 20 years ago.  I have no hesitation at all in calling them up and asking them to send their FFL to a seller, whether it be private or one of the big guys.
The owner was big in CAS until health problems reined him in.  However, he has known for a long time that his bread and butter comes from the semi-autos.

Well, I must admit publicly that my LGS is Peterson's , the very same one that advertises in Shotgun Gun News for years and is known nationally to collectors. I literally stopped going to gun-shows
In the last lustrum be uase they have turned into something completely alien to me.

Vast arrays of tables of FFLs selling black plastic at more than retail
And the same old pharts asking 10 times what their crap is worth.

The last few times I got frustrated as hell and dropped by Peterson's . Lo and Behold, whilst I stood in one place, well over a hundred guys came by from the gunshow to see what Ron would trade them !
I got to see lots of fun stuff that the black plastic dealers didn't want, and then when it got slow, Ron let me and Mrs Marvel into "the back room " which is like a museum, but for sale!

Ron had ivory mounted Jezzhail Miquelet Lock Muskets, plenty of Sharps and Rolling Blocks, oodles of rare flintlocks, and a Porter Turret Rifle!  Maybe someday he'll show me the collectable Colt SAA 's...

He is already the goto place for The regular CAS guns, and I often find a used C&B deal from him ...

That is so cool !

My LGS is a retired LEO ex-Sheriff and well respected in the county/ and in my little city.
There are couple of other store fronts in town, but Ted gets the traffic & kudos.

My buddy & I make a point to drop in on Saturday's then go get lunch. But in the present unpleasantness we've had to forgo the venture. Still Ted will Text me if he has something he figures I like , like Milsurp or cool old stuff.

The Stores main traffic is the new stuff , CCW, hunting rifles ,and built Semi AK's -AR's,  but my interest show up from time to time  :D

Ted has received via his FFL for me usually @ a $20 fee .

Woe is ME   ???

Same same as The Good Perfesser.  Some Lustrum or so ago, I gave up on the Gun Shows (yes, Plural) in my part of Western Pennsylvania.  Tables of FFL folks, hawking Black Rifles, Black Rifle Parts, Plastic Pistols and Black Plastic Tacticool holsters.  Didley Squat for anything even resembling what a Cowboy Shooter might want to look at.  The rest of the tables are of assorted Junque, hugely over-priced and lots of home made sudo jewelry also vastly overpriced.  Why Bother??

Now down to only One LGS.  But, it's a real small burgh.  In fact with the College Shut for the current situation, the population is well under 13 Thou.  All is not lost though.  We can Call an Order of Fresh Warm Cookies, A Pizza or Chinese and have it delivered in about 15 minutes.  Sometimes every Mudd puddle has a silver lining ..no??

Should Check out Major 2's Knew 9mm.  Kewell.

Peterson's is a good gun store but due to the traffic, I haven't been to Albuquerque in years.  Simply put, my old ranch pickup just won't run fast enough to stay safe in Albuquerque.  I can chase a cow off of a cliff and never slow down....but my nerve fails pretty fast on the streets of Albuquerque.  :)

When you figure in the shipping and then a background check fee, you're really not saving all that much money. I'll stick with my LGS.
Last time I checked Buds had free shipping on guns.

My main GS only charges his long time, regular buying customers $10 for a transfer ($20 otherwise), I've heard of $25-35 by others in the area. Buying a firearm off of GunBroker (or any online source) can really add to the cost of a firearm with shipping due to some sellers charging $40-50+. What I can't get at my local GS, I've bought off of GB, but they are models I never see locally such as WW2 military rifles and older firearms not seen much in my area except maybe at a gunshow. I have bought used blackpowder revolvers on GB, but no transfer of course is needed with them. I don't under stand the fact that some sellers on GB only charge $25 for shipping while another one has the ship cost twice or more for the same model gun. I've seen the UPS billing on some boxes used for shipping and they were way under what was charged for shipping. I think some of those sellers on GB make a racket out of shipping costs and inflate it way over the cost. I won't bid/buy on a firearm with overpriced shipping costs. Like to support LGS as Major II posted-"to help keep the lights on there".

Hm...sounds like the good prices aren't worth the extended wait? I do have a question though...why is it sites sell SAA's in .357 (9mm to the rest of the world) with a 5 1/2" barrel? But the same pistol in .45lc is only 4 3/4"?? Seems to me the larger caliber ought to have the longer barrel?

Unionrdr, pretty much all the calibers, .32's .38/.357's, .44's, .45's are all available in 4 3/4", 5 1/2", and 7 1/2", just as originals were in all calibers.  Many but not all are also available in 3 1/2".  And then there are the buntlines with 10" and longer, mostly just .45.

You are just looking on seller or auction sites.  Look at Cimarron or Taylors or EMF or Uberti sites to see the whole shebang.

Taylor's was one of them. Pieta was the other & both showed them as I described. Seems weird to me? I prefer the 5 1/2" barrel. I hate to pay a custom fee or higher price to get the 5 1/2". Like this Umarex/Colt I already have with 5 1/2" barrel.

The maker of coffins is correct about the barrel lengths & calibers..
However what the importer may stock or list for sale is another matter.

A lot depends on what the dealer/importer determines what sells "ol" supply & demand.

Some calibers may not be a fast mover or same for barrel lengths....you just might have to contact the importer and inquire.
and wait  maybe a long time ....

Italy is in lock down just as the rest of us and they normally are idle in August anyway.... I would expect ordering a standard
5 1/2 in the caliber you like is not coming soon.
Unless it is in stock , there may be a very long wait.

Cimarron is looking good so far. https://www.cimarron-firearms.com/model-p-5-1-2-45-lc-5.html Model P 5 1/2" barrel, .45lc. I'd love antique ivory grips and the silver snake on the outside grip though. I got a pair of the snakes from https://www.straightlinecollectibles.com/ .

and asked about it but I would probably be "guilty" if they did.

Regarding Bud's, I have purchased a couple of firearms from them with zero issues.  Yes, emails are frequent but I can always delete them.
