Yes, I'm one of them.

It's the favourite rifle of the 'gamers' as it lends itself well to short stroking. No, I don't own one.

Its nice to see some fellow Canadians here. I shoot a Miruko 1873 44-40. love it . I also  shoot 45-70 original 1886,H and R buffalo classic 45-70 bp and Winchester 1885 bpcr . Also 38-55 model 94 long barrel and stevens 44 in 32-40.

I have two '73s. A long rifle and a short rifle, neither are short stroked.  I'm not a gamer by any stretch of the imagination. If there only 3 in my category, I'm guaranteed 3rd place.  ;)

One '73 I could live with is the Uberti octagonal Short Rifle in 44-40. Just don't want to pay for one.

Had a Uberti '73 1 of 1000 rifle in 44-40. Beautiful rifle to look at, but I didn't like shooting it and couldn't wait to get rid of it. Too much rife for the calibre.

I'd love to own one...mostly 'cause I don't!

I have an original octagon barreled rifle that had been shortened to short rifle length. I had to have it relined. It shoots like a hot dam. It is still my favorite, although I mostly use an Uberti '66 in .38Spl.

P.S. I'm in Victoria.

Yes, just bought a 44-40 SRC with a short rifle barrel replacement with .433 grooves.
Thinking about a new barrel, she is not original anymore so she won't lose.
Looking for a Uberti rifle but wondering about their new 20 to 1 twist accuracy potentiel.

The Swede

Yep, up here on Vancouver Island.

Yes, in Vancouver with an;

Armi San Paolo .44-40 carbine made in 1980.

And a Uberti 1873 Winchester rifle in .44-40 with a 24.25 inch barrel.

I'm waiting for my first Uberti (used) to come in the mail!  .44-40 24".

Just started shooting CAS at our local club. I use a pair of  Piettas with 7 1/2" barrels, an El Tigre carbine, all in .44-40, and a Model 12 short barrel. I am 75 and enjoying every minute of it.

I'm waiting for my first Uberti (used) to come in the mail!  .44-40 24".

My Uberti '73 .44-40 arrived and what a beauty! Came with standard short stroke kit (NOT removing that, sorry PJ) Marbles tang sight, Whisper springs and large gold bead front sight. An absolute joy to shoot, 5.5grs Trail Boss, Fed LP, Star Line brass with Accurate mold 43-215C bullets. Waiting for warmer weather to try it at 50 and 100 yards.

I'm definitely on the slippery slope now, just bought a Uberti 1872 in .45 Colt to go with the pair of Pietta .44-40s. Want a cap gun next!  :o  And a Kirst cylinder!  ;D

I have a Taylor and Company short rifle in 45 because that's what my other guns are and I didn't want to change to 44-40 and they are not just for gamers  ::), some of us just like the '73 rifle.
