Anyone out there know of a competent gunsmith that can do a barrel stub for an H&R rifle?

if you go over to cast boolits they have several threads about it

There are so few H&R barrels left to cut up, most folks are attaching a new lug to the new barrel.

Here's a long thread, but it includes prints for making the barrel lug and fixture!

    latest 32 S&W with a welded lug. Extractor, no ejector.
