Howdy pards and pardettes

As some of you know I am new here.  I shoot a Ruger New Model Blackhawk .45 LC.  I have a couple of boxes of these shells and I was wondering if the were legal and safe to shoot at SASS matchs.   They are:
ULTRAMAX made by Winchester(atleast the brass is)
200GR Round Nose Flat Point

If these are not legal What companies make the proper ammunition?

Thanks Vern old pard.  That was very good news cause they are cheap at like 14 to 15 dollars a box from Cabela's.  Happy shooting and keep your powder dry

They are fine in revolvers but might not be considered safe in a tubular magazine rifle.   This has been discussed many times over the years and the consensus seems to be that it is better to use flat nose bullets in rifles.

Concider investing in reloading equipment (I ues a Dillon RL550B) You can go from $15.00 to about $5.00 for a box of 50. Check it out.........

Good shootin......

I'll be sure to put that on my list.  But since I am just starting it will be after another Ruger sixshooter,  a lever gun and a scatter gun,  another holster............... you get my point.  I already have some of thse rounds just wanted to be sure they were ok to use next spring when I go to my first match.  Thanks for your help.  Keep your powder dry.

One thing to consider is that your RL550B will pay for itself in short order. With both my wife and I shooting, it took less than a year to pay for mine with what I saved in handloading.

Will I have put serious thought into reloading.  But like I said I am 3 guns short of even being able to compete.  But when I do start looking into reloading I will consider your advice.  Thanks pard.

Poetic, if you aren't too far from Mississippi I'll come to your first match.  And don't sell yourself short -- we all miss.

Mighty nice of you to offer paper but I am closer to The Mississippi than I am to Mississippi.  I live in Iowa.  I know everyone misses at times.  But if you can't laugh at your own short comings you shouldn't laugh at others.  So I make fun of myself alot. I am unfamiliar with the ammoo but as long as they are all lead alloy they are OK. No gas checks or jacketed bullets in CAS.

I've been using 200g RNFP's since I started eight years ago. Load my own though. My equipment has paid for itself what with the wife and I both shooting. We do use about four different calibers during the season, but it does save in the long run, especially considering using 200 plus rounds a match. Get yourself set for the most fun you can have with yer clothes on........Buck 8) ;)
I might be slow, but I'm mostly accurate.....

If your only going to shoot one caliber, get the Dillion Square Deal B, it comes with the dies, and good shooting... ;)
