Can somebody tell me what the best stuff to clean a Cimarron Model P with the charcoal blue finish would be?? I wonder if G96 will work because it seems pretty mild ?

I've been cleaning these with Ballistol for years:

I also have two charcoal blue '73 carbines.  Did I mention I like that finish?  One important thing is to not let fingerprints stay on the metal when you put it away.  And wiping off hand oils from the grip frame.

What about the silicone impregnated cloths, can they be used on it??

What corrosion?  I think Coffinmaker hasn't had his caffeine yet this morning.  Or maybe too much?

MikeM, the silicon cloths won't hurt anything.  I stored my guns in Bore-Store gun rugs for a long time that have silicon inside.  But when I wipe them down I just use an old wipe rag that started out as a silicon cloth I think 20 years ago but now is just a somewhat oily rag with Ballistol and remnants of CLP on it.

Do you guys think Goodson honing oil would strip my finish? I am wanting to have my chambers worked on and this is the oil the machinist uses. Anybody have any idea??

The so called "Charcoal blue" that Uberti uses is nothing more than nitre blue and abrasion and stronger acids will strip it since it is very shallow.  Using any good gun oil should be fine and clean the bore as usual.  Personally, when I encounter these guns after the nitre blue wears off in short order, I then have those parts slow rust blued as it looks period correct and is the most durable real blue finish you can put on a firearm.  Eddie Janis of Peacemaker Specialists uses this on Colts.
