For some time now I've had a WW2 Spreewerke P38 frame I picked up off a gun show pile of parts for Not Much.  I thought it would make a nice spare for my aluminum framed P1, but I've always had an itch to build a complete gun with it.  BUt it seems those part kits dried up around the same time I found the frame.  Go figger.

Cruising the net a few weeks back, I saw that Everygunpart.com had some P38 kits.  Now there were the war time ones with those little bitty bird stampings on them that they wanted stupid money for, then there were the ones marked P38, for which the prices were just slightly obnoxious, but there was ONE kit with a slide marked "P1" that I thought was reasonable, and I preferred anyway because that ensured it had the updated and easier to get slide parts in it.  (The only thing that ever changed on the frames was the material)  So I put the order in.

Also there's no way I could ever be accused of trying to "Fake" anything.

Received it Friday, and over the weekend put it together.  It was not hard (thank you YouTube) and it ended up with a nice feeling action and a decent trigger. and a VERY nice shiny barrel.  Still waiting on some wooden grips I ordered before I shoot it,

BUt the neat thing to me was the date on the slide.  My Original P1 is dated  8/64, this one the slide is dated 6/64.  Only a couple months apart after 56 years apart.  So now I've got a brace of Walthers for Zoot.  With a Hungarian PPK to stick in my boot.

And the frame even has one of them itty bitty birds on it.  ;)

Now if only  my 1951 Beretta had been patented 2 years earlier!

I had a P2  (a police buy back )  and got Altamont wood grips for it, it was a nice gun, wish I still had it.
I traded it when I got ....

My  bdf (Mauser) 1944 with Waffen ( eagle ) marks and matching numbers ( except the magazine )
It was a war trophy,  but the particulars were not received by me.  :(
It has the redish grips.
I sorta stumbled into collecting bring backs/war trophies.

Bat 2919

Luckyline posts thing on E bay that he doesn't have in stock.  I have no way of knowing if he has this holster, but It took for ever for him to get me my money back for an item I paid for, that he finally admitted he didn't have and couldn't say when he would receive one to send me.

I did see his less than stellar feedback after I bid , I admit I was concerned  when I won.
But it did arrived a day early ( 3 days Sat. to Monday ).... will I buy from him again ?,  most likely not .

for what it is and what I paid, I have no complaint

I've got one of those, now to Sarco for the Shoulder holster. FWIW Sarco has those holsters for 18.95 and no funny buisness.  Has the hard shell ones as well for a bit more, as well as black and brown "tanker" holsters for the P38.

I ordered some things from Luckyline for the Muster this year, stuff never came, got a refund. Maybe buying it off Ebay from is better than from his website, since Ebay will help with customer complaints.  That's why that Russian Private at the Grand Muster had a US belt buckle. And home made shoulder boards. If you look through his e-bay store, you'll find the same item listed multiple times, with different prices and different shipping costs. I did buy a reproduction French mess kit cup before from him and got it. It actually looks somewhat like the original(I have 2, but both are rusty)...from about 20 feet away. Lost a bid on the  French Mess kit, and lo and behold, a couple of weeks later it was re-listed. That's OK, I know the website for the guy that makes and sells them.

I noticed  " the same item listed multiple times, with different prices and different shipping costs "

the description on mine said it was from "Man The Line", I was some puzzled when I won the bid and it said -
Lucky Line . That is when I read his feedback and the issues....but I had paid with PayPal ...so I figure if it was bogus I'll get my refund...
I won't chance this guy again.

Strangely since then , I have started getting emails offering items from "Man The Line"

Sorry Drydock, I did not mean to sway your post of topic, I just want to mention the holster.

Well, got my grips, so I loaded up some craptastic russian steel case 9mm and took the Frankenwalther out to the farm.  Once I got about half the front sight filed away it printed fist size groups off hand on a paperplate at 10 yards.   Good enough.  Bad CZech now has his battery for Labor Day.

Received two P38 holsters today, the first a "Tanker" holster from Sarco.  This is of heavy leather construction, nicely done with white stitching.  good for field carry, or to add a 2nd gun while holding up your belt.  Has the euro spec magazine pocket on the holster.  2nd was an odd surplus black flap holster from MidwayUSA.  This one the belt goes thru the flap attachment.  When you open the flap, the holster is allowed to drop around 3" down, the belt sliding up the flap while held by two straps.  "Is like cowboy fast draw" says the Czech.  Not so sure myself, but the pistol is well retained, together with the tanker will make a nice rig for Zoot.  It also has the additional magazine pocket.

That would be my guess, I doubt the Bundeswehr had any use for something like that.  But it's kinda cool in a kooky sort of way, fit's the Bad Czech ethos . . .

I like the used but not abused patina , what are the button rivets ?

Those are part of the holster drop system, and mark the anchor points of the retention strap assembly.

Pay no attention to the "Rare Theurman holster" write up.  Someone bought the story I think.
