Just secured a nice 1868 Springfield and I'm wanting to make myself a "Fair Weather Christian" belt but I don't have any ammo on hand. Could someone please share the measurements for the loops?

Trailrider

Use 4-5 oz. (.075-.078") thick strip for loops x 1-inch high vegetable-tanned top-grain cowhide.  Space the stitching lines on the belt 3/4" (.750).  It would help to have some ammo.  You may need to stretch the loops a bit once you have sew on the loops. Best of luck with it.

I use 5/6oz for my loops... and my measurements for the 50 cals. is.. 11/16"on the belt and 1 1/2" on the loops leather.

Trail Rider's 3/4" on the belt may be better for the big rim. My measurements are specific to the 500Linebaugh. which are made from 348 winchester brass
