I picked up a Euroarms 1858 over the holidays and wanted to do something different with it. Some cutting, bending and welding later I had created a grip inspired by Colt Bisley revolvers. I fitted it with a set of Curly Maple grips and reshaped and lowered the hammer-spur.

The original plan was to convert the gun to .44 Colt (original) but in the end I fitted it with a home-made 5-shot .450 Adams cylinder and a ported breech ring with a floating firing pin. I had come to see this as a target pistol, and .450 seemed like a good fit with it's accuracy and mild recoil.

The new grip shape 'hangs' the gun in the hand very nicely and allows the gun to point naturally, while the lowered hammer spur makes cocking the gun easy. Test firing the gun I was more concerned with function than precision, but it seems to have very good potential for accuracy. Next time I take it to the range I'll push it to see what I can do with it.

That is really cool. I wish I could take my Pietta 1858 Remington "Shooter's Model" and reshape the grip to exactly match the original 19th century Remington.

Very tastefully done, it looks fantastic in a coulda, shoulda been done that way in the era design... much to like about that !
when planets align...do the deal !
