Since we have to use a rifle in a .40 caliber+ I went and bought a Rossi 92 in .45 Colt yesterday. At least it helps the economy! Now to find a load that it and the Vaquero like!

Good luck with that Rossi. I have one and it is a slick shooter, but is a really short gun will only hold 9 rounds. However at  those long ranges Wild Bunch shoots, much like CAS, anything that will push a bullet out of the barrel will work.
When I (seldom) load that fad smokessomewhatless stuff either Unique, Titegroup , or Trail Boss and a 160 or 180 grain bullet will work just fine. Trail Boss and Unique are better because they are bulkier in that cavernous case than Titegroup.

Bunk, a trapper (of any model) is great for Wild Bunch!  I've shot maybe 6 or 8 WB matches in the last couple years, and I don't think a single stage needed 10 rifle rounds.  Lately some of them have been using a lot of 7 round stages so the target sequence matches a pistol sequence.

This one's got a 20" barrel on it. Hope it shoots as well as my .357 one.
