If I could figure out how to post pics I could show my conversion of a brass frame Grisworld from 36 cal. cap and ball to 22 rim fire..
The gun started out as a brass frame navy.
I turned the barrel down to a round profile.
LINED BARREL WITH A 3/8" BARREL LINER.
Drilled cylinder  chambers  through with 3/8" drill
Lined chambers with barrel liner .
Made jig to cut back of cylinder down with cutoff wheel on grinder.
Made jig to file back of cylinder down to finish on drill press.
Cut frame for recoil plate with floating firing pin.
Cut another plate to go over plate with firing pin and to correct head space...
Reshaped hammer.
TA DA!!!!
IT WORKS..
First test was with 22cb then 22 longs..Then to lr..
So far shooting at long distance (across basement 20' )..I'm getting groups around 1 1/2 inches...
The 22cb and longs work great but the standard 22lr is hard to eject..
If I can get my daughter to come over and show me how to post pics I will show my creation.

Thanks for posting the pics Major,,,The last picture is showing the firing pin and the recess on top of the recoil plate with purple ink still on it from fitting the  hammer so it would not hit on the top of the plate.

I have an original NM-1863 Remington, converted to a 5 shooter. Probably in .46 Remington at the factory.
At some point in its life it was converted into a .22 cal. by lining the barrel and the chambers of the cylinder.
Very cool and it shoot very well.

Thanks,,everything was done with a grinder ,drill press ,,and a whole lot of trial and error..If you look close you can see where I miss judged the face of the hammer where it contacts the firing pin(ground to much off)..I drilled an ;)d tapped a  a 6-48 screw in to cover my mistake .  ;)
