Have a spencer carbine (taylor arms) that has not worked since I received it .... even with expert help from this forum.

Going to send it out to Larry Romano.

Have only sent one item back, a navy arms 66 carbine - parts were loose.  Got a RA, sent it never saw it again.

What shipping method have some of you tried and your results.  Do you have to declare what is being shipped?

FYI shipping from Missouri to NY.

Thanks for your comments.

Have shipped many years with USPS Priority Mail Insured, Signature required with no problems. UPS, and FEDEX are to expensive and treat firearms poorly. All Powder and ammo UPS Ground

I've shipped over a half dozen firearms over the years with no problems. Longguns are the easiest as you can send them through the PO. Double box with bubble wrap, tracking and insurance. Pistols are more problematic, depending on the local post office and where you are sending it. I've used my small hometown PO to send a broken revolver to be repaired and I've had to use UPS next day air to send one to Colt for work(very$$). Definitely tell the po whats in the box but don't mark the package as containing a firearm. And unless you want the authorities knocking on your door, NO ammunition.

No fooling, CALL him for guidance!
USPS looses guns!  Ask dealers!  I have seen partial, wet boxes with no contents delivered and USPS claims " delivered", go fish!
Larry can tell you what works for him up in NY.

With respect:
There is so much VARIATION due to "local conditions" and storefront UPS/FEDEX location operators that refuse guns, over company policy, that LARRY KNOWS BEST.

Down here in FL the pkg store fronts insist guns be taken to the shipper's "HUB" because they do not want to be responsible for a firearm!  If you mislead them about contents, insurance may be void.  I tell them the contents are machined parts.

UPS and FEDEX storefronts are notorious for sliding in minor extra shipping features and not disclosing them verbally.  Adult Signature Required is one.  LOOK at the receipt and make sure.

Best to ask him about pre-printed UPS/FEDEX labels and ship the return one to him.
Contents:  "machined parts". If concerned, ship breech block separately.
Box it like it will be driven over!  Triple cardboard boxes with lots of tape on EACH one with address labels on EACH one.
Now, sorry, go back and read my first line.  Thanks.
Pay attention to that soft voice in your head.
