I am shooting 26.5 hrs of H4198 with 240 gr bullet' this in a Uberti 1876 replica. I know it will shoot thru a 220 pound hog at 42 of my paces. I was beginning to think I was the only one shooting a 40-60 WCF rifle.

It depends on what rifle you are using, and what barrel length and twist.  I have shot a 252gr cast (Lyman #2 equivalent) bullet using IMR4198 + 1/4 square of single-ply toilet tissue poked loosely into the case atop the powder. In a carbine with a 16-3/8" barrel, 24 gr produced 1322 ft/sec.  Using a 240gr cast bullet in a rifle with a 28" barrel, 26 gr of IMR4198 + TP filler produced 1577 ft/sec. One rough calculation for the heavier bullet is to divide 210 by 240 = 21.875. I would start with 22 gr., especially if you are using H4198, which had a slightly different burning rate than IMR4198.
