My FFL has a consigned  Gewehr 88  in  7.92mm. X 57 ( I call the punisher  :o )
(Disclaimer) like this one though this is not it .... but in similar condition ...I used bore light and the bore is bright.

Hang tag say's $299 ...no dog in the fight , no idea who brought it in .....

There is also a total refinished Mosin Nagant Hex receiver TULA 1934 ....re blued , stock has been refinish in gloss Poly  even the bayonet is re blued  ::) :o  gun looks like a ...."well"  all Pretty ....so so wrong  :-[

anyway the Gewehr 88 is cool.... Boxer Revolution anyone ?

That's a sharp looking Commission Rifle! Can't see the top of the receiver well, but it doesn't look like an 88/05, so it would need the clip to function, or lots of clips for a GAF stage. Might be re-blued, some of the German rifles of that period left the action in the white, all other parts blued, M-1871 and 71/84 Mausers for instance, but I'm not sure about the 88s.

There was a box or two of ammo can't say I saw any clips ,of the style I believe that dropped out the bottom ...it maybe modified for the later style and cover plate installed under the receiver ... :-\

I just gave it the once and 1/2 look over, I would study deeper if I was to be a player...

If'n' I were...there were also two Mauser's  (that have been there awhile) one Czech and one Brazilian or Argentine  :-\,
a Carcano ( which I did not happen see yesterday  :-\ ) and SMLE which had been purchased .

Upon closer examination of your photo, I can see the cover plate, and the edges of the charger guides at the rear of the receiver-so it's an 88/05. A lot of the '05s were sent to Turkey. If you look at the rear sight markings, and they're some sort of Arabic markings, then it's a Turk one. Also, the bolt will have been replaced. They arrived in Turkey without bolts, Turks contracted to have new ones made. Anyone looking at one, be sure the bolt head is present! It's a separate piece, and apparently lots of them were removed when the rifle was used as a Wall Hanger.
