I have a Harrington & Richardson, Inc. Gardner, Mass. Made in U.S.A., Cavalry Model, 45-70 GOVT. carbine.  I have been told these firearms to be not safe to fire.  Please help me with some info!  Is there a fix?  Can any gunsmith see the problem or does a cowboy firearm specialist needed?

The problems with the H&R Trapdoors are fairly well documented.  Do some on-line research.  Here is a starting place.

I have a H&R cavalry model since 1971. Many rounds fired both factory and reloads and never a problem. I never heard of this problem until a few years back.

Total POS. Ship it to me and I'll add it to my H&R Cavalry Carbine and Officer Model.

Never had an issue with these or a previous model I regret having sold.

Much better than some beater Trapdoors going for mega bucks at gun shows.

By now, most if not all the ones with the problem have been fixed.  Enjoy it!
