skirmish powder

I cannot remember and I know I read it somewhere but what exactly is Skirmish Powder? I find it listed onthe  Powder Inc site in two "grades" as #1 and #3 and the price is certainly low enough. Is it floor sweepings at some foreign powder company or what?

thanks I think here is the difference between cheap and inexpensive. This stuff is cheap so I will pass and stay with GOEX

I use the 1F stuff for blank loads in my mortar and cannon. At 4 ounces a shot... saving a few bucks a pound is worth it.

  I have used it in shotguns as well.

I know the price has really gotten up there on black powder. We were using the same for everything but now for blanks it is worth buying skirmish.

Is there any better deal than powder inc? Old E is 19.55 a pound now in a 25 pound quantity.

I'll say the same herre as on the old thread.
Fg Skirmish is perfectly usable for shot gun and I tried it with acceptable results in 1860 Armys.
I think the reason it is considered dirty is that the granules are really large.  Makes for a spectacular night shoot.

I use it in shot shells only. It has every granulation from powder to cannon grade all mixed together. It is spectacular in shot shells visually. LOTS of smoke, fire & sparks. A real crowd pleaser.
