Kinda anticlimactic wasn't it?  Mine was more "picturesque".

Fella down the way from my place in California blew his yard up about after I did mine. I didn't see it until the next morning (dammit), but the neighbors declared it as good as mine.  I figure it was bigger, but maybe not as spectacular because of the blackpowder smoke and flame.

Welder by trade, stuck an acetylene hose down a hole and went it the house for a spell.  His kid came home and tossed a cigarette out in the yard.

Tore up his front yard, cracked the foundation under the garage, and cracked windows in three houses, his and one on either side.

I know of a couple of incidents where natural gas from a ruptured main or service migrated up storm sewers to a pilot flame on a gas appliance.

The results were spectacular ......
