Hello:

Here's one for the experts:

Have been searching for info on the relative accuracy of 56-56 versus 56-50 in a 30" barreled RIFLE.
Searches on the N-SSA Forum indicate that the 56-50 was/is (can be) approximately twice as accurate, apples-to-apples, as the earlier outside lubed 56-56 round.

I am having a CW era RIFLE rebarreled and can choose either round and any rifling twist between 32" and 48".
I know how to make the 56-50 hum, but have no first-hand experience with the 56-56.

What do I need to know, please?  Thanks.

1 in 32 twist in 56-50 would work well,I have never got top accuracy with 56-56 with the 1 in 48 twist. If I was to re -barrel I would make it a 56-46 with a 1 in 24 twist,If you chamberd it for the early 56-46 long cartridge(this can be loaded with CH4 56-46 dies by just backing off the FL die)This chambering was used by booth Springfield and Spencer in rifles and carbines as well as the early sporting rifles,I have found this to be the most accurate Spencer combination
