HUP!!, Just bought ,2, used ,,how do we tell about what year (,year's ),they might have been mfg. Already ordered part's to re build. One is set up for 38-357,9mm this one is a progressive,3 head turret, auto primer, powder (sq. box),a cylinder thing'y for bullet tube's and a sh oot on the side for loaded rds. to fall in a box, tray ,what ever. The other LEE 1000,is just a 3 turret head ,single ram,no place for a short primer arm on the ram,and the handle is loooong. Think i'll use this one for my 40-60,40-65 & 45-70's. I'v never delt w/ this type of loader's before,,,,my guess early 90's,,maybe?  Sorry ,can't do the pic's.

   Thanks Hootmix.

I had two of them.

I got rid of them after a primer explosion set off a dozen primers (all that were in the tray) and got a pair of Dillions to replace them.

If the primer tray was full I am sure I would have been hurt worse than I was.

At the very least, wear a full face shield with it.

'DANG-GUM",,Glad you came out alright. Talked to PETER,at LEE PRECISION,said the newer parts will fit the progressive model,,but they on longer make the primer holder's ( one end for lg.prm. take it out turn it over for sm.prm's) for my ram bar on the single set up,,,,but I will be prim'n by hand anyway. ,,,,,Wonder if anyone still has one of those primer type thingy's they don't need anymore??

rickk,,, thanks for the reminder& warning !!!!

I should have a couple of the primer assemblies floatin around somewhere. I will look in the next couple of days. As far as primers blowing up in presses I have seen one in a loadmaster and two full primer tubes blow up in Dillon 650's. That is not something that is limited to one brand of press and does not make a certain brand "bad". wM1

You have chosen well. The Lee Pro 1000 will make good rounds all day long. You have to begin slowly. Make sure you can see powder before starting a bullet. Do this by hand and not with the bullet gizmo. Be patient with the primer feed. When making rounds for .3/357 take extra care to SEE powder. A light attached to your set up will help.
It's one of the best products that Lee make so make them rounds. I had the Loadmaster but sold it after reluctantly acknowledging that it ain't fit for purpose.

I have 4 Lee 1000s, I found they were cheap enough I could buy one for each caliber I was loading for and just change presses on my bench.  I used to shoot IPSIC and loade 1000s of rounds of 45 ACP and 9mm.  I also have one in 38/357 and the one I now use the most in 45 Colt that has loaded 10s of thousands of rounds.  A good basic machine.

' Gentelmen,,thank you ,one and all ,,.Back in the day (60's-70's) I used a pacific "C" press,,loaded 1000's of rds. with out a  hitch,,,but this thingy  here,,,quite the gizz-mo (lol).

WM1,,lived in YUMA AZ. ,back in the 50's-60-61,,if you have one of those primer thingy's be glad to pay ya' ,just to bring this one up to date.

Thanks Hootmix.

All I need to know is exactly what parts you need; Is it the whole primer assembly? wM1

Hey,WM1,,the way "PETER-@ LEE PRECISION" talked ,,the primer thing'y had a lg. primer pin on one end and a small primer pin on the other end,,that fit the slot on the front of the ram ,,,PETE said they don't make this type of thing'y any more,,,like I said " don't know how old these press's are. I thank ya' for your kind offer,,wish I could do the picture thing. Now ,,I need some plates,,.44/40 ,,'44 mag. & .45 colt.,,i think I will enjoy this "giz-mo" OOOOH ya'the plate in it now ,,says 38-357-9mm,,WRONG!!! 38's don't fit,,9mm will, dang another plate!!!! (lol-lol-lol-).

Thank's Hootmix.

I will PM you my cell# and you can take pics with your cell and text em to me. Do the whole press where the part fits and we can go from there. wM1

On my p1000 that's where the dead primer exits.  Next station to the right is where the primer gear is located. Should be an arm that curves upward and the primer holder is located on that. The actual primer ram is located under that station. wM1

Hey ,WM1,,sorry about the pic's.,,and being so late ..got caught in a stampede,,,the pics I sent are of a single stage set-up,,but you are spot on about the P1000 progressive,,man this thing;s goin'n be fast. Sooooo, how many cals. are you loading for??

Thanks for your help ,appreciate all your offer's. Looks like this stampede is going to take about a week before I can get back to work on the loaders.

  I, will holl'er back. Hootmix.

Be very careful with it. I had one I could never get it to time right for more than a few rounds, had to change the timing gear several times, never could get the primer feed to feed right and it is VERY easy to double load your cases or not drop powder. I blew up a Springfield XD .45 with ammo I had loaded on the Pro 1000. I do not know it if was a squib or and overload. And I cannot say for sure that it was not my fault for not paying attentio to what was going on. Therea re no safeties on the press to prevent a no powder or double powder drop.  You have to look at each round to make sure there is powder in the case. Kind of defeats the purpose of the progressive idea.

Whe n you get it together poractice making full  motion with the lever arm. Short stroking i not a good thing. YOu must go from stop to stop.

I use everything on my Pro 1000 except the priming function. Its not because I was afraid of an explosion. It was because it didn't feed primers well. I prime by hand then drop them in the case feeder tubes and I remove the decap pin on the sizing die.

I have 6 of the 1000s. Have literally loaded hundreds of thousands of rounds on them. Never had an explosion and I use Federal Primers exclusively.....(Lee says not to use Federal primers as they are very easy to set off)

You need to tweak them and keep them clean and lubricated with dry silicone lube to get them to run well.

For around $150 each , with dies, they simply can't be beat

I am genuinely concerned!!  Major problems for one of our fold.

Notice how neat and well organized that work area is??  Ever visit his site and see how organized and clean his machine room is??
That degree of organization of his work and play spaces is truly the sign of a SICK MIND!!  Spoken by one who hasn't been able to find the top of my workbench in YEARS!!!  I'm not sure it still has a top.

Damn but THAT is NICE!!!!  JEALOUSY abounds.  I just gotta hire a cleaning lady!!

OK.  Go Ahead.  rub it IN.

An intervention is called for here.  Get a couple of guys together for a surprise visit.  Bring a case of Ale and trash can full of old useless gunparts and broken stocks.  Spread em around.  Make it look appreciated  ;D

Damn but THAT is NICE (ECHO ECHO)!!

Sorry,,been gone,,thanks for all the reply's,,. The reason for all the questions,,like I think I mentioned,,,i bought 2-of these presses at a local gun show,,ordered enough parts to rebuild the progressive one( 3 of every thing),,just today got 2 new plates 1-38-357 and 1 44/40-45long colt and all the primer stuff,,i'm still under $ 135.00,for press & fix'ns. I ordered the micro powder measurer to replace the disc's,,anyone using one of these,,better deal or not? Will be loading rifle 40/60 's and the like on the single press  , will have to make a lg. auto primer arm on the single ,,,leavin at dawn, headed to NV. ,,,sister not doing good ----the big "C",,,.

rebertalotto,,,Honestly,!!!!! Just nice! my shop did'n look that clean the day I finished building "IT".
