The thread on Frank James' '75 Remington got me thinking. I have never been able to find what happened to a Colt revolver that should have had some significance. According to published accounts, Thomas J. Dimsdale, second editor of the Montana Post, and author of "Vigilantes of Montana"  was presented a Colt's revolver, reported to have been a special order, ornately engraved, silver plated with ivory grips for his services to the Vigilante organization during the darkest days of the winter of 1963-64 when the vigilantes hung at least 20 malefactors including sheriff Henry Plummer, presumed leader of a band of road agents who wantonly murdered and robbed in the gold camps of Bannack and Virginia City from the time of discovery.

Dimsdale succumbed to tuberculosis in 1866 at the age of 35. Where's his pistol now ??
