Trigger guards on replica '73s are thinner... why?

The trigger guard area of the lever on most '73 replicas is bit thinner than on originals.

I would chalk it up to a Uberti idiosyncrasy, but then Winchester/Miroku came out with their '73, and it also has the same thinner trigger guard area. I seriously doubt they both got this "wrong", so this difference must have been a design choice. Anyone know why?

Just guessing but, probably to keep the weight down and/or save on materials.

Good catch!  When I got my first Uberti, and later when I got my Miroku, I examined every contour and noted where each deviated from average originals.  I'd always considered my eye for detail as being well above average, and that has kept me from desiring certain reproductions on numerous occasions.  The Rossi-made model 92's, for example, never struck my fancy, because the contour along the bottom of the receiver was all wrong.  But I'm embarrassed to discover that I have never noticed the difference in thickness of the trigger guards.  Now that you've pointed that out, it looks glaringly obvious.
