Hi all,

Thought I'd pass this idea along to see if it catches on.

My local cowboy club, Milan Irregulars, shooting at the Milan Rifle Club, and the Shady Creek Shootists, our "sister" club shooting at High Point Gun Club Illinois, have been doing a cowboy shoot on labor day weekend for roughly the past 15-16 years. All together, over $400,000 has been raised and donated to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospitals.

These have been large and complex events to organize run and our primary organizers need a break, so we're scaling back to our original shoot format of having a "standard" monthly match, no preregistration, etc.....and simply donating all the match fees, side match fees, etc. to St. Jude's. Now, the interesting part is a suggestion made to pass this idea along for other clubs..... whatever their particular flavor of cowboy / western competition, and simply donate proceeds from one match r event. Funds can be sent to my contacts at the Milan Rifle Club (checks payable to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospitals), or of course can be sent directly to St. Judes. I see some advantage to using my club contact for this effort  as it brings more attention to positive community and family aspects of our members.

Any club interested can contact my friends "TA" & "Sis", their email is below...

PM me if I can help clarify.

The buff shoot went very well yesterday, the weather was absolutely perfect,
we had 27 shooters knocking down those old targets from Ackley. We
raised $460 for the kids at St. Judes.  Thanks to all who came and enjoyed
the day and threw some cash in the can. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

No, I don't think I've seen him since the Ackley days. It looks like we're probably
going to have the convention here again, maybe we can get some more of those
guys to come back. I really think they would enjoy our group again.

I dropped by the buffler shoot, Bear tooth was cleaning up on a herd & Johnny McRae stopped by to skin them ol' devils out, but then declined as he was running short on time.

Myself didn't have the calling to try buffalo this go-round, but I did shoot the main cowboy match Sunday, a mini-match Friday and something called wild bunch. Get this, I used a self-loading pistol & this new less-smoke powder. This permits shooting beyond the speed of my brain, so a procedural was accessed.....but my aim appeared to be true.

We had an array of impromtu prizes & raffle on Sunday. Between all of the weekend festivities at Milan and Shady Creek & another contributing club.... thereabouts of $12,000 was collected.

Anyone wishing to join us next year or at any monthly match at the Milan or Monmouth IL clubs, be sure to get on my posse. I'd take a clipboard along & we'll keep a dual set of books  -  see how we shake out with each scoring system.
