Hi Two Flints

I just acquired an 1860 carbine # 43509. I was wondering if you could look it up for me. I don't know any thing about it, and niether did the guy I got it from.

Rebel Dave,

Checked on your serial # 43509.  My SRS books don't show any serial #s very close to your #43509.  However, serial #s above and below yours were issued to Company G, 3rd Iowa Volunteer Cavalry (no date given); another possibility, Company F, 2nd Wisconsin Volunteer Cavalry, issued in 1865 (no day or month given).

Hope this helps.

Thank you very much. The cavalry outfits make sense, as I am in SE Wisconsin, Gun was found in a basement of an ole guys home ( I'm 72) who passed. It was neglected for years. I am working on that. Thanks again. I might change it to center fire, as the bore , after scrubbing, is decent.
